Ever thought about becoming a social media influencer? Then the posAbilities Social Media Fellowship is your answer!

Led by Hannah, our amazing Social Media Lead, the program equips Fellows with the tools, knowledge, and hands-on experience to pursue their social media goals! Operating on a hybrid model with a blend of online and in-person workshop sessions, the Fellowship consists of two courses—Social Media Exploration and Social Media Mastery.

The four-month Social Media Exploration course explores topics on online safety, self-exploration, content creation, and content production. As part of the course, the Fellows practice posting content and building inclusive online communities through their personal accounts and a joint Instagram account (@social.media.fellows). The Fellows put their skills to the test by promoting the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival and the Curiko-hosted Confidence Workshop. They even got the chance to interview successful Vancouver YouTuber Josh Rimer!

The course ended with a formal graduation ceremony, with two fellows, Elliott and Rosh, even becoming peer mentors! But the journey doesn’t end there – many of the Fellows, along with some new faces, went on to take the Social Media Mastery course, which builds on the skills gained during the Exploration course.

The on-going Social Media Mastery is a five-month course that dives deeper into brand creation, constructing online networks, utilizing software tools, and the art of social media marketing. This immersive experience will equip the Fellows with the hands-on knowledge on building a collective brand and using it to effectively communicate with the disability community and beyond.

A huge thank you to CLBC and RBC for making the Social Media Fellowship a reality! This program has been nothing short of transformative, not only providing valuable social media skills but also fostering a supportive community among the Fellows.

Hannah and the Fellows have some exciting projects on the horizon! Along with posting content on their joint TikTok account (@Socialmediafellows), the group is also working on releasing a podcast and their final capstone project consisting of a social media campaign about Valentine’s Day.

Stay tuned for more exciting content to come by following their social channels, and if you’re eager in getting involved or joining future courses, reach out to Hannah at [email protected].

Your journey to social media stardom awaits!
