Every Friday at Aegis, the building is filled with the sound of music and laughter as people come to gather and “learn American sign language through the magic of music.” Since November 2016, a small group of staff and persons served have been teaching songs in ASL to two classes at Lord Tweedsmuir Elementary School in New Westminster. Last week, we were blessed with not one, but two, live performances by our brilliant Sing and Sign group. The first performance on January 25th at the elementary school was a huge success; the gym was packed with students and teachers alike, and we even had the opportunity to witness the kids perform a live drum circle! That same weekend, the students and persons served from Aegis also performed at the Royal City Centre Mall Volunteer Festival, where their musical talents were equally well received. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves (we know we sure did), and we can’t wait to see and hear what they have planned next! In the meantime, we hope this clip of their performance brings some joy and light to your day and a smile to your face.
