22nd Annual Eastside Culture Crawl

Every year, the Eastside Culture Crawl transforms communities through visual arts. This free event inspires, educates, and engages artists and those curious about art within the shared spaces of various studios across Vancouver’s Eastside.

Alternative Creations Studio is once again excited to welcome hundreds of curious admirers, art lovers, and talented artists into their space for this year’s Crawl. Everyone who steps foot into the studio is encouraged to get up close and personal with the many different forms and styles of art, see how we function and meet our artists.

Alternatives Creation Studio is a creative hub operated by posAbilities. For many years, the studio has supported local artists who have a strong desire to showcase their creations and develop their careers in a city where art is flourishing!  Some of the new work the studio is working on this year includes their “Reversal Series”. It blurs together aspects of drawing and painting to create ethereal, abstract and figurative works that hover on the precipice of appearance and disappearance, like a figure in the mist.  The works were made in stages on both sides of the semi-permeable canvas, with a reference given to the reversed side.

With its main focus being inclusion and creativity, Alternatives is extremely proud to bring people together as a community affiliate of the Eastside Culture Crawl.  Be sure to stop by the studio – sip on delicious hot chocolate while browsing for local treasures. Nothing unites a community like the shared love for art and a warm beverage on a crisp fall day!

Spaces, Places, and Traces – Preview Exhibit

Earlier this month, four studios opened their doors to the public for the preview exhibit “Spaces, Places, and Traces”, including our very own, Alternative Creations Studio. This salon-style exhibition explored individual and communal interpretations of places we inhabit, spaces we occupy, and the traces we leave behind. From paintings to drawings to photography, printmaking, sculptures, and more there was truly something eye-catching for everyone!

Our gallery space featured works by ANYUTA, Kim Cooper, Sherry Cooper, Robert Dewey, Espiritu Design Studio, FELT à la main with LOVE, Robin Ripley, John Steil.
