Hello all! We have some fabulous news…posAbilities has started to actively use Instagram! We’ve already posted tons of great photos and videos onto this social media platform. Each photo and video functions to tell a story and shows you the latest happenings within our organization. For example, we have some great (and funny) photos of our new interns, fantastic shots of our theatre crew at Stage Door and awesome posts from various events we’ve participated in like the Relay for Life! We also have a great video of one of our house band members jamming out to a Drake song.

If you aren’t familiar with Instagram, you’re probably wondering, “what in the world is that?”

Instagram is a social media platform that is used to share photos, videos and moving pictures, called GIFS, with friends, family and the general public. If you are uncomfortable sharing snapshots of your life with people you don’t know, no worries, there are privacy settings you can apply!

Though Instagram can be used on web browsers to peruse through photos, it is primarily a mobile application for Smartphones. The downfall of the online version is that you cannot upload photos from your computer to Instagram; one can only do this if they have the app on their phone. If you want to create an account, all you have to do is download the app, which doesn’t take long at all. Then you’ll be ready to start posting!

Okay, time to get down to the nitty gritty. How does this “Instagram” work?

I suppose a simple way to think of it is as a virtual photo album. By using it you can access images you post, as well as the images of others. The app allows you to experience moments through pictures as they happen. The images you post are transformed into memories you can keep forever. You can also post photos whenever you want and alter them however you want by using the fun filter options Instagram provides. These filters work to transform ordinary looking images into professional looking snapshots. The uploading process is made super easy and quick.

Instagram is a fun and fast way to share photos. The process is made simple through Instagram’s sharing feature which allows you to disseminate images on multiple platforms simultaneously. It is also a great opportunity to gain exposure and develop branding. If you like taking photos and sharing them with others, this is the perfect app for you.
