Insufficient Art Project ft. Roz Maclean and Friends

May 15, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The “Insufficient Art Project” is a series of portraits and interviews by artist Roz Maclean created to explore what it is like for British Columbians with disabilities to rely on disability assistance rates that place them below the poverty line. Twenty individuals shared their stories, which have been compiled into a free e-book, “Insufficient: Disability Assistance is Not Enough.”

Join us for an afternoon with Roz and some of the project participants! We will hear from different folks about what it was like to share their stories and how Roz uses her art as advocacy!

And because nothing beats trying it out for yourself, bring your drawing materials to try out some of the techniques Roz uses in her practice!

About Roz

“I’m a visual artist, children’s book author / illustrator, and educator living and working on the traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation in Comox Valley, British Columbia. My own art practice helps me to understand, hold agency within, and navigate the material and emotional world. I believe the opportunity to engage in art making should be accessible to all regardless of socioeconomic status, background, or ability”
