Alexander Gorlizki, a famous artist from London, England, has said, “Working in collaboration leads to a rich dialogue yielding unexpected results.”
Collaboration has led to rich experiences for artists at our Alternative Creations Studio to date, and the team would like to take the spirit of collaboration even further by participating in a unique funding opportunity and ramping up their brand with the expertise of local “create-a-thoners” from Flipside Creative.
Join us on Sunday, June 1 at East Feast Vancouver, where Alternatives will be pitching an exciting new initiative that aspires to provide opportunities for artists with diverse abilities from Vancouver, Valence d’Agen and Auvillar in the Southwest of France to take an imaginative journey. Local artist Cheryl Fortier (who happens to be the mom of amazing Alternatives staff member Shannon), proposes to lead art workshops in both countries that result in “mail art” projects. Her concept is that the artists involved will communicate through their work, opening up international conversations.
The event is comprised of a mingle period with entertainment, a luncheon, a series of three live 5-7 minute pitches and concludes with a prize winner who is selected by popular vote. To find out more and lend your support, join us for lunch and come out to vote! Click here for details and please note that seating is limited to 60 guests.
That’s not all that Alternatives has been up to! The studio was also recently selected as one of nine recipients of the Give A Day Createathon – an initiative presented by Flipside Creative Inc.. Alternatives along with eight other organizations and initiatives will be receiving 24 hours of free marketing and design prowess from Flipside and their 2014 Createathon partners. Stay tuned for more details about the Createathon, which takes place starting at 8am on Thursday, June 19. Thank you to Flipside Creative for this great honour, and we look forward to working with you!
