programs & services

Overview

At posAbilities, we empower children, youth and adults with disabilities to lead meaningful and healthy lives. We work with families and community partners to deliver a full range of individualized services in a variety of settings. Our agency supports individuals throughout their life span. There is no cost to persons served through posAbilities’ funded programs.

Community Inclusion:  Individual and Group Services

Learning Life Skills

Participants are supported to develop skills that will assist them to gain more independence at home and in the community. Life skills services are time-limited and based on specific goals that are created to meet the individual’s abilities and needs, for example, learning how to use public transportation.

Structured Day Support Programs

We offer a wide range of social, recreational and learning opportunities. Participants are encouraged to pursue their interests and try out different program options. In addition to the variety that this approach offers, the person served has the opportunity to meet new people and to expand his or her social circle.

Home Living

We offer a variety of residential options to meet the unique needs of each child, youth or adult supported by our agency. Arrangements may be short-term, or long-term. They may also accommodate those individuals with developmental disabilities who have medical or behaviour support needs. All of our residential services focus on inclusion. Persons served receive assistance and coaching in the areas of health and safety, community access, money management, nutrition, problem solving, relationship building and other aspects of daily living.

Behaviour Consultation

For more than 40 years, Laurel Behaviour Consultants have been empowering individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. We offer behaviour consultation, training and family support.

Our services are guided by the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis, including Verbal Behaviour and Positive Behaviour Supports. Each individual’s program is supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst/Clinical Director.
